Permits and licensing for an F&B (food and beverage) business
A Food Shop License from the National Environment Agency (NEA) is required for retailing food or drinks. (Note: the authorities will inspect the location before granting an approval for the license.)
Additionally, you can also apply for:
- Halal certification: Voluntary but advisable due to the sizeable Muslim population in Singapore.
- License for importing food ingredients: Needed if you are going to use ingredients that are sourced from outside of Singapore.
- Liquor license: Apply for this license if you intend to sell liquor in your restaurant.
